Obituaries - Alison Holmes & Antony Thom
16th December
It seemed strange to join everyone for our Christmas Pot Luck and Raffle evening without Alison... but equally, it was good to be among friends, doing something that Alison and I had enjoyed since we joined Blue Diamonds in 2010. Alison was able to come to Blue Diamonds on a few occasions, when we began dancing again in September and although she wasn't able to dance, she to was pleased to be with friends.
Alison passed away peacefully at home on 11th December. The club raised over £162 with ‘Give Care Not Cards’, a raffle and other donations, which were given to the Dougie Mac Hospice, in memory of Alison. Thank-you.
Sadly, Jenny's Husband, Antony Thom, also passed away (at the height of the pandemic), on 15th March. Apparently, Antony had really enjoyed getting back into square dancing and making new friends at Blue Diamonds.
Although it's hard to come to terms with the loss of a loved one, in my experience, the great friendship found in the square dance community, certainly helps.
Dancing Resumed
23rd August
I'm pleased to announce that we are able to resume Square Dancing in September, with our first session booked for Friday 3rd September. Alan has also kindly agreed to call on the 9th, 16th and 23rd September (to ease us back in gently). And, thanks to the generosity of our treasurer, no subs are due until October!
Please Note: Hand sanitiser will be made available and clear face shields will be issued to all dancers, these must be worn whilst dancing (you can of course also provide your own face shield/mask and gloves if you wish). Also, please remember that you will need to bring your own refreshments, as we won't be using the kitchen, for the time being.
The restriction on using the kitchen has now been lifted, however, we've opted to continue to wear face shields/masks (when dancing) for the time being.
